Can anyone help? My 02 Passat 130 abs, traction control and glowplug warning light came on suddenly while stood in traffic along with the engine workshop message although the car is running perfectly. This had happened before and after baffling the local VW technicians for a few days i discovered that a faulty brakelight switch was the culprit. So i have again replaced the same switch and agaian the warning lights have gone, however now when i apply the brakes the n/s front sidelight illuminates and the warning buzzer goes off! Can anyone point me to a solution?

Try disconnecting both rear light cluster plugs and see if the sidelight still comes on. You could also remove the cluster bulb holders and remove all bulbs and reinsert them checking that they are the correct type (especially the dual filament ones) with the correct pin offset. This is the only place I can think that would cause this.

Thankyou, i will try that and get back to you with the result.I forgot to say before that the car had been to have the wheel alignment checked/adjusted the day before,is it possible that something may have been disturbed (e.g a brake sensor )? Anyway cheers for the input!

Cheers Snapdragon took your advise, disconnected tail lights and checked bulbs and terminals didn't find any faults, however, just going through the proceedure seems to have cured the problem, thankyou!
