Looking to get a HID conversion Kit for my Bora as the existing OE lights are Naff.

There seems to be two (or even three) different versions for the H4 size.
The two mains ones are

H4-3 - Most common. This is where the the HID capsule has 1 bulb that works for both hi and lo beam with a small motor inside that moves it up and down when you witch from lo/hi etc. £75

H4-4 - I think this is akin to Bi-Xenon where there actually two bulbs inside each capsule. One for lo and another for hi beam. £100

Then there's one sole on eBay where the xenon bulb is the lo beam and the main beam is just a halogen bulb.

The prices quoted above are from Hids Direct. I want to spend as little as possible. There are some ebay sellers selling the former for £60 with digital slim ballasts.
Is it pointless going for the H4-3 or are they decent. It's only £25 difference at HIDs direct but that £25 matters right now

Hi Loofer,

Cheap options invariably cost you more in the long run (cheap parts never last or fit properly)

My advice would be to bide your time and save your money until you can afford a decent set from a reputable company!

The light nights are almost upon us so save for later in the year when you are most likely to need them.:beerchug:

The HID Direct kit is great, the bigest issue with the h4-4 is they have 4 ballasts..whcih you need the squeeze in, I would go for the H4-3's from hids direct, I had a H7 kit from them and it was well made and installed fine.

Agreed about cost vs quality.

I start work early in the mornings anyhow so I won't be driving in the natural light for a good few months yet.

Thanks for explaing that. Has helped me decide a bit better.

I just need to try and find a kit with some slim ballasts that won't intefere with OBC

Mine worked great on MY A4 they had a resistor pack to stop bulb out errors. TBH ring HIDs Direct they know what you need and they gave me great advice.

Hi,

We have H4 kits available on our sister site www.hids4u.co.uk in standard and slim ballast's. All of our H4 kits are Bi-Xenon which means both dipped and main beams are Xenon. Our kits also only have 1 ballast per bulb. Please see the link below,

http://www.hids4u.co.uk/home.php?cat=15

As members of this forum you would however get a 10% discount off all kits. Hope this helps. ;)
