View Full Version : B8 A4 on TV

Did anyone notice this week's Horizon on BBC2 had a B8 A4 in it? Professor Brian Cox, presenting the case for nuclear fusion, is shown driving his new A4 along country roads (an SE, I suspect, with halogen DLRs looking much classier than LEDs). This time only, Clarkson may be right in saying that some Audis are indeed driven by cox.
Bum! bum!

I noticed too as I shouted to my wife to take a look, she just rolled her eyes and looked at me in a way a wife only can to a husband who paused and rewound his sky+ just to look at a car that is already parked on the drive..:p...

Of course it is a matter of personal taste - so if you prefer your car looking like a chav's house at Christmas, then go for the LEDS :p

How long before you get on the Audi channel
09:01 - 09:04 Personality Driven
Nobel peace prize winner Professor Brian Cox discusses nucleur fusion from the front seat of the new A4 with Neil Cole (whoever he is)
I spotted a red Audi Avant in the car park where those guys who were rescued from the helicpoter were returning on Sky News. I used the instant rewind feature to see if it was a B8 (it wasnt) ............ so its not just you.
I read the original post as a Nuclear powered A4.
(I prefer the LEDs, altho I wish they were more like the A5 shape than the curvy ones I have)

Yes, I agree that the A5's LEDs are more acceptable (wonder what an A4's halogen DLRs would look like if replaced with LEDs? Would one get an A5 effect)?
As the A4's curvy LEDs now stand, they look like a string of cheap pearls round the neck of a chav's tart.

I know what you mean but I wish mine were more like the R8 shape but they would be too wide so I would have to go the whole hog ;)

Really do not know how people can prefer the Halogen over the LED's, whenever we pass an A4 with Halogens my lad says' there is a poor mans A4 dad'
The whole styling of the S-Line is Mint.
And before someone goes off on one its only a joke!!!!!

Must admit, I originally thought the same - LED vs Halogen just seperated the haves & havenots - me being a havenot, but then again somebody else's paying for the car....
Anyway, 2 nights ago was sat outside our local chippy waiting for my wife & there were 2 "tastefully" modified teenager cars (yes I am old now) that were both sporting LED strips stuck inside the headlamps. Made me think about the relationship between style & fashion...........none really.
So now, I'm thinking my halogens ARE stylish - those bling LED things are just another fashion that's going to be adopted by every Saxo/Corsa/Clio/whatever, thus reinforcing Clarkson's C*ck rating.
So come on all you fellow halogen owners; envy is neither attractive nor necessary!

Only problem is halogen is old hat in the Vorsprung durch Technik factor.
Xenons and LEDs are the future I'm afraid.

My 10 year-old boy also prefers the LEDs, but he also prefers green jellies to Belgian chocolates, MacDonalds to River Cottage, and Lil Chris to Leonard Cohen. Regarding the obvious charms of LEDs glistening in daylight, I happen to think that sometimes less is more. But I realize that inevitably we'll all be using xenon as the superior technology, it's just their aesthetics I can't abide.

Dya know. On the safety front the LED's win out. I am confident that others can see me coming with my LED's. Therefore they've gotta be good.

Be careful you don't get lured into "Volvo syndrome".
Because you think you're being seen you may be lured into doing things on that assumption and then get caught out.
(p.s. Can you tell I ride a motorbike and despite an always lit headlight and a flouro jacket, I know I'm invisible to 90% of car drivers??!!)

No - I didn't want them in the first place.
But I can see the LEDs certainly suit Ibis White. Very tasteful.

Just as I did when I ordered an Sline with led's
This thread has become very "my car is better than yours" which is the point i was making initially. -only in a very dry way.
Im really sorry I offended you and your rubbish drl's.

You're Clearly Of Clarkson's Kin. ;)
I'll end it there
funny, i thought the same of you.. rubbishing peoples led's over your and Dr Cox's halogens from the outset.
Do you drive with your front fogs on by any chance???
If you cant take it then don't give it.
I do actually like the Halogen drl's........ as they make mine look better.

This is fun! Remember my reference to LEDs looking like a tart's cheap jewelry? I had your wife in mind. (How long before we both get banned from the forum?)
I gave yours a pearl necklace and she didn't complain. In fact she glistened quite nicely in front of the LED's.
