I have a 1997 audi quattro 1.9 tdi and when i get to about 40 mph it goes into limp mode I have changed the maf sensor and some of the smaller frayed suspect looking boost cables, looking at some of the similar messages on the forum it all points to me having a go at stripping the turbo for a decoke but without having a vag done at the moment [ money issues] can anyone suggest anything else i should check

Check you have not blown a turbo boost pipe!

If the pipe is frayed replace that first!
I changed the turbo on my T5, only to find it was the intercooler pipe.
So I spent £800 on a turbo and £50 on a pipe. So I ended up £800 light.

Thanks , i'll just have to keep looking and hope i get lucky and find a split or something without having a vag done yet i'm probably in no man's land

Well if you get the test done and it tells you the turbo is overboosting, then its a split/loose pipe or the turbo.
It could be either, my Skoda had a new turbo due to overboost and broken turbo oil seals, yet my van was overboosting and it was just the pipe.

My Bora was overboosting (1.9bar) The turbo was cleaned/serviced and now produced (1.5bar) and spools up so much quicker. Cost £175 but money well spent and peace of mind:biglaugh:

I have found the black tubing going into either side of the injectors to look a bit worn would this cause me any power loss and put me in limp mode like it's been doing, if so do they just pull off
