View Full Version : essential options list for new A4
we are going to acquire through contract hire, a new A4, either in 120 or 143 guise.
What options are essential for a typical BDM? We don't want to spend a fortune, but what kit is ideal in terms of getting balance for value for money and usefulness and making the BDM feel like he is valued (rather than putting him in a sparse standard car)?

i think a standard 2.0TDI 143 now has a free upgrade to SE Exec so you should be ok with a pretty standard car

Add the technology pack and you are pretty much all singing and dancing

Sorry but what is a BDM??
ummm maybe - boring drone manager ?
why not ask the BDM?? to choose the best package normally works well and will almost certainly make him feel valued.
Sorry but what is a BDM??
I'm guessing that it's their business development manager.

Give him a list of options to choose from and a max spend, then i will make him feel like its more 'his' car. CArs are what makes most salesmen tick
Boring Driving Man? Never heard of a BDM.
I would suggest the phone and B&O stereo depending on how much time this "BDM" is on the road. Allowing him to pick the colour might go a long way to happiness. Nothing worse than having a car parked out side your house in a colour you do not like.
Does he have a family? Perhaps some family items like blinds, rear airbags etc might make him happy?

Lighting pack and Hill Hold assist would be good.
The lighting pack is cheap and has a nice feel good factor ... but only at night ;)
Hill Hold assist should be standard and for £45 it takes out a blank switch and adds some cheap functionality.

Go for the 143 if you can, SE Exec spec (different 17" alloys, cruise & low phone prep), with servotronic steering. I found the standard steering too heavy.

OK...definitely Hill Hold Assist. Cruise also. Light Pack is classy.
They'll obviously need phone connectivity but I would go for an after-fitted Parrot 9200...the remote controller sits perfectly on the console space where the AMI controller isn't...if you know what I mean.
Assuming some mileage to be covered it'll be diesel. Go for 143PS at least...170PS if you want to spoil.
Presume colour is their choice but...white looks fantastic but be prepared to take out a membership at the local car wash / be handy with a bucket and jet sprayer. Also £550 saved on metallic so that could be used towards options.
Wish I'd picked 'through loading'...important if you want to carry any 'long things'.
