Mine was in for a service yesterday and had a courtesy car booked, which they didnt have! Anyway after a bout 45 mins wait:mad:, i ended up in a demonstrator which was an A4 2.7tdi with all the trimmings including DSG (which was fun), B&O (which made my ears bleed), and a few other trinkety options thrown in for good measure.

i was trying to get a TT, but no such look

Was impressed by the pull of the 2.7 engine and from inside it sounded pretty good too. Got back in my 2.0 and felt like a slug

So anyone had RS6's or R8's as a loan car;)

(just a pedantic side note the A4 2.7Tdi isn't available with DSG - it would have been a multitronic , agree about the engine 'tis why i bought one)

I was always given an A6 2.7Tdi S-line multitronic with sat nav , leather & lots of other toys when servicing my A3 haven't had my current car in yet so will have to wait and see..... and R8 would be nice !

not had an RS6, but Leeds Audi gave me a 3.0 TDI Q7 S-Line for a day - this was fully trimmed - i think they put £50,000 on the insurance cover bit of the loan agreement. What a tank is all i can say, expect to add, what a lovely leather clad tarmac eating growling tank. It was a hoot to drive on empty roads, but parking around town was interesting, thank god it had park sensors all round.

I looked at the instant MPG readout - i think it just made it to 20mpg when i was coasting - most of the other times it was in single figures. LOL :)

Thank you Leeds Audi !

Other cars they have leant me have been a 2.0 TDI SE B8 A4, a B7 Avant 2.0 TDI Sline, and an A6 S-line 2.0 TDI Saloon

Having come from car brands that run the smallest/cheapest cars at thier dealerships as courtesy vehicles its a real pleasure to have a similar if not better specced car to use whilst yours is being seen to.

The first time mine went in to Leeds Audi I got a TT soft top. When the nice lady said when do i want my car back i said lunchtime , What a To**er, i could have had it for a full day.
Still it was fun for half a day and i took the long way back to work.

Well, after 6 months and 4K miles in mine It will be a good year before I get anything from Audi. Even then, I live walking distance from the garage so perhaps Ill ask for a pair of Nikes

Why do they have these higher spec cars sat around being used for loan? Are they cars they cannot sell? Cars that they are trying to sell? Employee cars on loan? I can understand why if you drive an A6 they would loan you an A6 but I dont understand why they would have Q7s and large engine A4s just parked up. Are they just demo cars that would be used for test drives?

To address the balance (and lose a card!), I was given a smaller engined, lesser spec'd B8 A4 to play in for a day.

And yes, I did ask the obvious cos if you don't ask then you don't get. Didn't work on this occasion and it was in fact an employee car.

Even if it was the Multitronic and not DSG (what do i know, i've always had a manual) i enjoyed it It had the flappy paddles and the stick thst when pushed to the left allowed you to go throught the gears yourself. * forwards gears! Tremendous!

The 2.7 i was an employee's car that doubled as a demonstrator.

hey - Audi Happy. Were you on the M62 yesterday near Leeds about 10am? If so, you passed me. Or someone else has a car exactly like yours:approve:

When I was 22- and took my old B7 1.9TDI SE in to West London for a service, I got a 2.0TDI A6 S-Line with flappy paddles which was a nice novelty.

The Service Manager looked a bit scared when he saw my age on my driving licence 'Drive it carefully young man' he said. :D

Also had B7 S-Lines and most lately a B8 S-Line 1.8T which was smart- loved the LEDs.

Demos from my local dealer in the past 12 months

A5 3.0TDI quattro Sport - Service Car and extended demo
A6 2.7TDI Multitronic S line - Warranty issue with A4
TT TDI - Replacement tyre for A4 :zx11:

The Best without a doubt A5. The only car which everytime I stopped at a Motorway service station I would be asked about (Well alot of the time)

I've had:

-New A4 sline (loved the lights, really get heads turning!)
-a3 cabriolet s-line
-new a3 s-line

I swear the service department do it deliberately to encourage customers to flog their existing wreck and get a new one.

143:(... for tax reasons. I dont mind it really. Its a good engine, but more oomph is always nice

I'm curious if the 2.7tdi deserve the extramoney that someone shoud spend compared with 2.0tdi 170hp. The difference in performance is big?

Did anyone had a drive test with both this engines?

I have a 2.7 quattro on my old A6. Smooth power delivery and have had a 170PS A3 (Not common rail) which was great.

2.7 is good if you can afford it. Personally I would go for the A4 2.0TDI 170PS and up spec

A guy a work test drove the 170hp 2.0tdi in an A3 (i think Sportback) and in his words 'it was a bit fizzy', and he went for the 143 instead. He said it was very difficult to get the power on the road, far too much wheel spin. Saying that I find my 143 A4 difficult to get traction sometimes, but as i've said in another thread, i'm partly putting that down to the tyres, and the rest down to my heavy right boot:o

I reckon the 2.7 will be a lot smoother in comparison. Is it a V6? if so i would have thought it be torquer than the 2.0. Correct me if I'm wrong, I ahavent looked at the figures. My impressions of was that it pulled really well through the gears. Also if you click ot down a couple of cogs and boot it, it really goes!

2.0tdi 170 hp +350NM
2.7tdi( V6) 190hp+400NM

I think it is more difficult to put the power on the road with 2.7tdi because it have more power and sometimes the wheels can spin with FWD.

2.7 S-line

the 2.7 is a much more 'gutsy' flexible feeling engine it never feels like its trying too hard - the 2.0 needs to be revved a lot more to get less performance

the 2.7 puts down its max torque/power over an 1850 rpm range v's the 2.0's 750 rpm range

the 2.7 will pull from 1000 rpm with more torque than the 2.0 can manage at the peak of it's rev range(it generates over 80% of its max torque from 1000 rpm and max torque by 1400)

this low down brute power and wide max power rev range combine to make it feel much more relaxed than the 2.0(170) while being quicker to boot

if only the multitronic gear box could handle the full 3.0 tdi's output - that would have been the car i'd have bought if it could - for me the multitronic box was more of a draw than the extra power going from the 2.7 to th 3.0

Finally got mine a couple of weeks ago & 2 minutes after dropping the delivery guy off at the station, the engine management warning light came on............anyway, another story.

Was given a 3.0 tdi quattro for a couple of days while a man with a computer did stuff to mine. Was absolutely fantastic in the brand new snow on Thursday night - let me drive like real hooligan round where I live!

But the funny thing was. when I got back in mine today, it just felt like my 2.0 was just so much more "right" - better balanced, none of that stupid light as a feather steering overcompensating for the lump out front. It was almost as if the 3.0 was just that bit "too much" for the car; as though it was never actually part of the design.

....and the fuel consumption - don't they know what the revenue guidelines are for charging business miles?? Not in 3.0tdi territory, that's for sure!

Useful feedback.

Seems to back up what a lot a reviews say...e.g.

"As ever, the smaller-engined, front-drive versions seem wieldier and purer in their responses than the tech-laden quattro V6s, 40:60 front:rear torque-split or not."

As written in thread some time ago I was given a Vauxhall Vectra from National Rental because the breakdown service was fresh out of Audi's. Watch out if you end up in this situation. The rental service is dire and they even had the cheek to try and stitch me for some damage. Luckily it was swapped the next morning for an A6 2.0.

When my previous car was in for a repair, I had a fully loaded A6 Avant 3.0 Le Mans which I did like!

How's this badboy for a courtesy car?

It took me slightly longer to get to work this morning, it must be the extra 10 miles I needed to take.
