I have had the trouble of the drivers airbag under the seat problem when I move the seat and it all ways resets with Vag-Com, now I have the side airbag message so I guess there is another loose connection.

Is the connection in the side pillar where the seatbelt lives? Any tips on getting the cover off etc, or where else to look?

I also have the dreaded control module error, which I did manage to clear last time, anyone know what the cost is likely to be for a replacement control module, it's a 2000 2.8 Quattro Tiptronic

65535 - Internal Control Module Memory Error
00-00 - -
01217 - Side Airbag Igniter: Driver Side (N199)
32-00 - Resistance too High

The connector for the side airbag is also under the seat, remove the connector and solder the wires, and insulate. The airbag control unit costs a small fortune,if you google there are firms that can clear the codes for a lot less than what a unit costs

Nice one Kenny you have saved me from hours of pain and distress trying to remove the side panel, and breaking pieces of trim along the way:D

It makes sense you saying that it's the under seat connector, as it was right after my wife drove the car, as she is the same size as a hobbit the seat got moved up and forward with no regard to the iffy connection

Hopefully the 65535 code will clear after I fix the connection

Found the connector under the seat and soldered the connections, but I still have side airbag intermittent alarm. Is there any where else that I should check?

Where are you situated (country)? You will now have to check the wiring from the connector under the seat til the side airbag.Depending on the month of production,in measued value blocks 005 or 006 in group 1 and 2 you will see the values of the drivers side and the pass side igniters You can ignore group 3 and 4.While observing the display move the seat back and forward, and try regulating the back of the seat, see if the value canges from( too high) til correct.

Hi Kenny,

I am in Swindon.

What do you think, change the control module? I took a reading from group one and this also said correct yet the fault is still reported.

65535 1) control unit defective Replace control unit for airbag -J234.
1) Fault message appears even when control unit has been triggered three timesThere are firms that can delate this code, google (airbag codes)a new unit costs a small fortune. (explanation for triggering) if an airbag and/or belt tensioner is triggered, the control unit will record the fault "Crash data stored In such cases the control unit for the airbag (J234) must be renewed after
◆ the 1st triggering of driver's or passenger's airbag,
◆ the 3rd triggering of the front belt tensioners and/or side airbags.
