View Full Version : Delivery Times...........

Are there delivery issues at Audi?

I ordered my bog-standard 2.0 TDi SE Avant (Company car - don't want to pay for extras I'll have to leave behind if I find something better to do!) at the beginning of October with a promised 12 week delivery.

Beginning of December was told it was in production & would be delivered to dealer on Christmas Eve.

Middle of December was told it has now gone into production and would be delivered to dealer on New Years Eve.

First week in January was told that due to Christmas shut-down it was now going into production and would be delivered to dealer the last week in January.

Spot a pattern emerging here?..........

Today was told "we'll get back to you today........" - but not a murmur.

Admittedly there is a bit of a communication chain here (Me --> Lease Co. --> Dealer --> Audi --> all the way back). This is my first Audi and but it's not exactly filling me with confidence that this is going to be the most rewarding experience!

Anybody out there actually getting deliveries on time?

Ask them to provide you with the commission number and then you can make the call direct ;)

Probably not particularly helpful, but I ordered my 2.0T Avant Quattro S-Line in late October and picked it up 23 December. I'm a private buyer so maybe that expedited things somewhat.

Ordered mine beginning of December given a week 5 build date (which is next week ) they have confirmed is correct, should be with the dealer late February ready for collection March 1st on a 09 plate.

As a private buyer I could of had the car a couple weeks earlier, but decided to delay for the 09 plate.

On Order
Audi A4, Lava Grey, Piano black inserts, S Line Executive, Heated front seats, Bang & Olufsen, Telephone prep low, Parking Plus, Hill hold assist, Cruise control, Interior light package, Folding mirrors.

I had to wait almost 4 months for mine when ordered in April and arrived for 1st September. You mention the comms chain but in all honestly you should be able to go directly to the dealer as Im sure the employee and lease companies would rather be out of the link if you are just chasing the car.

I understand there was a shut down over Christmas and is it possible that they have extended the shut down given the current climate? Anyone close to Audi?

It is annoying you want the car to arrive ASAP, get nothing from the dealer and feel a right pain if you keep phoning them up.

Audi closed early for christmas i believe as did most OEM's Audi have also announced 5 down days in February.
Its in line with most car companies as Ford Dagenham are on on 3 days, L/rover took 4 weeks for Christmas, Honda Swindon are closing for 4 months from next week etc.......

Interesting update............

In the space of a couple of hours this morning, we've gone from :

....in production, will be delivered to dealer at the end of February.

to :

....actually, it's on it's way and will be with you (that's me not the dealer) on the 4th February...or the week before if you want.

Remembering ChrisRoberts21 post in the "What Colour..." thread, I wonder if by ordering a bog-standard car, it's being shunted around current orders, depending on who's making the most noise (yes, I'm naturally sceptical too!).

Anyway, looks like I'm getting the car soon - hope it's as good as promised to be on the test drive.

regards

Although I said mine's ordered, I actually am going in tomorrow to sign off the final order .... although I've already signed an order form.
We're going in to finally select a colour anyway.

However I got a call today from the salesman. He'd previously said we'd have around 3 weeks to tweak the config. He's now told me that Audi are pushing through customer orders ahead of stock orders. This means for me that the car will be here sooner. :D

For you guys with deliveries in Feb .... will you wait for the March 1st 09 plate? I can't see mine getting here before hand but even if it did I'd wait the extra few days.

After chasing the dealer again today I am told the car arrives with their PDI centre next wednesday, they are going to do a priority PDI (usually takes 5 days!?) and will be delivered on Friday 30th, that's 14 weeks since the dealer received the order from the contract hire company.

I have never waited so long for a new car and it has not been a good experience so far, I also was originally told it would be delivered last week in December then told that it wouldn't be built until week 3, 2009 I wonder if they don't push through the lease company orders because they buy so cheap?
A colleague at work had to wait 16 weeks for his A6 although he ordered right at the end of the old model and I think has car was a bit of both! BMW's ordered by the company have arrived between 4 and 6 weeks with no hasstle....

I was excited about getting my new car but now I just feel a bit deflated, I hope the car is better than the wait!

If its offered mid Feb I'll take it then. I'd be scared it would get reallocated to another purchaser....

(But now it has been offered around Mid Feb I am wondering whether I should wait !)

I put my order in via a lease company in October, they have online tracking so you can see where your order is in relation to you getting it. For the last 2 months it been noted as in the 'dealer pipe' delviery forcast 12th Feb.

I guess at some point it will turn up! though losing faith quickly.

For into its a company car.

I think that maybe your leasing company and not Audi. As most leasing companies are terrible at placing orders. You can check when order was placed with the Audi Centre. I bet November which would be a February delivery taking into account the December shutdown

I locked my order for an 2.0TFSI Avant in early January (dealer mix up on spec. meant order was not locked in December) and was told car would be built in week 7 (Feb) and available for March delivery - this is a private buy so relatively quick timelines is consistent with other posts

On order: A4 Avant 2.0TFSI S line, metallic, Nav + AMI + cruise (= new tech pack) B&O, DAB, Parking Plus, Leather, Phone prep low, interior light pack

Within a couple of hours of my last update, I was then told I could have the car delivered to me next Wednesday (28th Jan) - I'm not around, so it's going to be Thursday.

I'm pleased that in the space of a couple of days we went from end of Feb to 4th Feb to next week, but the whole process does seem a bit chaotic, and if like me you're ordering a "simple" build, then who gets it is a bit of a lottery.

BTW, just seen in the press this morning an Audi advert offering the SE with a "free" Executive upgrade - typical!

Wouldn't your spec make selecting Executive S-Line more cost effective and also give you multi CD ?

A good question.
Apparently, Nav comes with the multi (6) CD changer & having spec'd full (valcona) leather would mean the leather/alcanatara in the exec pack would be 'redundant'
Audi has recently introduced various packs including technology pack, leading to some curious pricing
For example, Dealer told me that Audi realises Sat Nav is very high cost and therefore has introduced the technology pack. I originally just ordered Sat Nav Plus (at a discount) which is shown as £1935 in the Jan-09 brochure whereas the technology pack which also has cruise and AMI costs £1955, just £20 more.

Just bypassed everybody and got hold of the order from Audi, it was ordered 10th November! poo

Hello DaveTom, I'd be very interested knowing where you spotted this. I tried to place an order a week back but know that the fleet company haven't actually placed the order yet so interested in looking at this.

Hi

Sunday Times, ingear section - half page ad quote :

"The Audi A4 2.0 TDI. Now with complementary SE Executive upgrade.............

I'm sure it'll be in all the other "quality" papers as well.

I don't have the paper but can't see anything on the audi site or the Times online.
I'll have to keep my eyes open.

I disagree. I've gone for the Exe pack and it means upgrading to Milano leather only added £330. I wouldn't say it was redundant. Effectively it gives me AMI, Sympony upgrade, Bluetooth for free ;)

I worked out the if I went for the Tech Pack, I would effectively have got Nav for about £1250 extra. Still a stupid price for old technology... so I didn't
