Engine Transplant 1.6 to 1.8

I have a Golf (MK2) CL 1991 model 1.6 carb ( Jet Tronix ) . I feel that the engine is almost near to its grave. Im planning to change it to a 1.8 engine.

Questions:

1. Can I still use my transmission?

2. Will the carb be able to feed a bigger displacement? or should I get a Webber 45?

3. Should I replace my fuel pump? ( both? -- in the tank and the one near the engine )
