GT TDI 130 Owners (regarding cambelt change)

Hi all, joined up to get some info on a price of a cambelt change on a golf mkIV gt tdi 130 (02 plate). Basically ive put a deposit down on one and a friend of mine has told me a cambelt change it will cost between 500-1000 quid to do, but i thought it was only about 350-400 from a vw dealer on golfs? Obviously the gt tdi 130 owners on here will be best to answer my question as they would have probably done theirs already.
