Key coding with VAG-Tacho

Hi, I am trying to code a new key for my 99 A4 B5.5 via VagTacho.
I have obtained the PIN code from the Imobiliser/instrument cluster and tried to code a key today but to no avail.

Before I coded the new key the software said that there were 2 keys coded already, and I only asked it to code 1 new one.

Afterwards I restarted the software and it said that there was only 1 key coded already, and the new one didn't work, it just had the immob car/key light on in the dash.

Has anyone coded a new key sucessfully or am I doing something wrong?

Do you have vag-com ? Its easy to code keys with vag-com once you have the pin code. The procedure is on ross-tech site under support...

Please discuss VAG Tacho on this site if it is a LEGAL REGISTERD version, purchased from an approved supplier....

OK that is fair enough, but I can't get official support until Monday I expect, so I was asking here in case anyone had come across a problem.
