I've just bought the GF a 51 plate Golf 1.9 TDI S which doesn't have remote central locking.

Looking around the net I've found some kits but are they any good? Does anyone have any experience with them?

This one is the best I've found http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110326485199&cguid=371ecc9f11e0a0e203671787feefe4cc

Whats reckon??

Sorry. I think most people must have remote locking as standard.

The kit you link to looks reasonable. All it needs to do is apply power to the lock/unlock sensor switch in the drivers door.

You might need to check what type of security it uses? I think most remote locks use some form or encryption to stop a car thief from simply using a 'code grabber' to record the radio signal you send to the car and then playing it back to unlock it.

If you install a kit that doesn't have any security and your car gets stolen, the insurance company might be reluctant to pay a claim. (I mean more reluctant than normal)
