Hi all

My car has just completed 32K and was dropped off at the dealers for it's second service. Igot a phone call from them today telling me that they were replacing the cylinder head under warranty. I called in and spoke to the mechanic whom stated that he noticed that the coolant level was low so he carried out a pressure test and he wsn't happy with the result so they had opted to change the cylinder head.
I have never topped up the coolant in the 16k since the last service so the loss is very minimal.
From what I've read there appears to be a problem with heads manufatured around 2006.
I assume that the new head will not suffer the same problem.

Can anyone offer any reassurance, as I nver expected to be carrying out such extensive repair work on relatively new low mileage Audi?

Thanks

Ian

I guess that nobody else has come across this issue.

Anyway, car's back with me and appears fine. The dealer said that this was the fifth occurence of this problem in 12months.

New head and EGR cooler fitted under warranty. Old head showed staining in the inlet ports on pot#4. Apparently this is where they crack.

the deaer stated that the later heads have been modified. Fingers crossed he's telling the truth!!!!!
