View Full Version : Ordered my S4
Hi all, I'm pointlessly excited as I finally ordered the S4 today.....
Now to see how long it takes to be delivered :)
:beerchug:
John
You lucky lucky person. I know how you feel because I had to wait for my a4 to turn up but it must be a fraction of how you feel because your rewards are that much greater.
Which colour did you go for? Please say Sprint Blue........... I think someone else on here ordered Deep Sea Blue..... not keen on that colour IMHO, only seen a basic A4 in the colour so far.
What do you get as standard on the S4 then on the inside?
Just out if interest did the dealer mention how many they have ordered? I know there will always be people with money to spend but given whats going on with everything else in the world of finance and car manufacturing I cant imagine its that many.
Actually, having seen a couple of S5s in Sprint Blue and Deep Sea Blue (also red and others), I actually decided on the Deep Sea Blue - I really like the colour, especially in the sun and it sets off the silver wing mirrors nicely. The red is nice and menacing but I just can't buy a red car and the sprint blue looked a little too "bulky" for my tastes.
As standard it's pretty much the SE spec but with sports seats, the interior lighting package and different instruments. Outside you get xenons and LED tail lights, a few styling tweaks and 18" wheels (I decided against the 19" ones in the end - maybe I am weird but I actually like the standard S4 wheels.
The final spec is:
Deep Sea Blue with Black silk nappa S4 sports seats. Heated front seats.
The Full Audi Drive select with active steering, damper control and sports differential
B&O sound system
Sat. Nav. DVD plus with AMI and mobile phone prep. low and DAB
comfort pack and advanced key
parking systems plus
Tyre pressure monitor
Storage pack
Cruise Control
High beam assistant and Adaptive Headlights
John
PS Dealer didn't mention anything about numbers and I forgot to ask. :)

Sounds really nice you lucky S@*. Not sure I like the tyre presure monitoring, I know it's common place now but we had a Renault Scenic at work with this system, one of the valves started leaking and what would normaly have cost a tenner or so at a local tyre fitter turned out to be a dealer only job costing well over £100, I think the valve alone was over £50, add the fact that we are talking Audi here and I bet it would be a lot more.

Not sure what the Audi system is, on my Mini is uses the ABS systems to detect changes in relative rolling speeds - one wheel speeding up gently would indicate a slow leak for example as the wheel gets smaller/softer...... in which case there's nothing special about the valves and it's a quick tenner.

That's ok, I thought they were all the same sort of system with the valve doing the work, obviously not.
Nice spec John, lots of car and the wait will be well worth it.
Regarding the tyre monitors I believe they work on a sensor fitted to each of the wheels?? I have them on my B8 A4 and wanted them retrofitted to my wife's A3 sportback until the quote of approx £100 each! Just need to remember to check her tyres more often.

Sounds like you will be getting one of the first RHD S4s.
When is the official S4 launch date in the UK ?
I have never driven a B7 S4 altough have been fortunate to drive a RS4 on an Audi Experience Day - what a car !
I would have thought you are going to be in for a real treat with your S4 - not long to wait.

Same build week as mine :D ....although I'm giving up my 400bhp S4 for a 2.0T. I guess approaching with me approaching 40 with a 2nd kid on the way, I'm getting a bit grown up and sensible :Blush2:
Any quotes for the Insurance yet? be intersting to know what they're coming out at!

No idea what it'd be like in the UK as I am exporting the car to the Netherlands which has a much more sensible insurance system where the cost is mostly down to the weight and value of the car together with fairly nice no-claims bonuses. No annoying insurance groups :)
Haven't looked at costs so far but I do know that Holland (where the cat will live) has the cheapest motor insurance in Europe.
