Can anyone advise me how to get the sidelight bulbs out ?

I read on a forum that you just pull them out but all I can get hold of is the wiring and I didnt want to pull too hard in case I pulled the wires out.

Is there a trick to it or do the headlamps need to come out ?

I've just fitted the Philips Xtreme power bulbs and wanted to try the Bluevision sides that I got for free.

Thanks in advance

Exactly the same problem here. Tried for about 20 mins before giving up - the brown fixing which is where the wires terminate does turn, but i still couldn't figure out a way of removing it.

From reading the manual, it suggested that its an "none user replaceable" item and that it needed your local audi garage to replace them.... Anyone out there replaced these before ?

Yep just get your hand as far to the plastic as poss and pull firmly on the wires, worked for me- if not maybe a pair of long nosed pliers if you can get them to fit.

Yes i replaced mine a couple of weeks ago with the philips extreme!! What a difference clean white bright light, its a must pairing for the zenon look also!!! Just a hard pull on the wires as close to the holder as possible, mine were really tight but did eventually come out. :D

I replaced mine the other day too. At first I didn't pull hard as didn't want to rip the cables out but got fedup so yanked at it and they came out.

Did mine today (bad idea in the freezing cold!) Just another example for you of yanking the wires and not damaging anything.

The passenger side I could get at the plastic with my hands (quite painfull!). Driver side used angled long nose pliers as close to plastic as I could. Its well jammed in so a bit of a wiggle as you pull will free them.

Put in the blue vision I got free with the phillips extremes (found the dipped headlight harder to put in on drivers side because of access with the turbo intake system in the way).

This thread from another site has some diagrams, they suggest removing H7 main beam bulb to allow easier access. I did this and recommend it for anyone else changing the sidelight bulbs. http://www.audi-forums.com/b7-forum/43903-sidelights.html

Worth it, the results are great! :beerchug:
