I need two new front tyres for my A4 2.0 TDI S line (235 40 18s), at the moment it has Michelin Pilot sport 2's all round but I was thinking of Goodyear F1 Asymetrics which are a few quid cheaper or Dunlop SP01s. I'm looking for grip and longevity, the current ones have managed 20k on the front. Advice on what to buy and where I might get the best deal would be appreciated as well as any guide prices.

I'm a big fan of Pirelli P-Zeros.

They really transformed the handling of my S6 (which is quite a feat, considering it weighed about 2 tonnes!)

If you needed 4 tyres, I'd reccomend you go to Kwik Fit... simply because their "3 for the price of 4" offer on high quality branded tytres seems to be unbeatable!

Try Cosco for Michelins if any near you, it is cheaper to buy Michelins from them

I've been running Vredestein tyres on my 140ps 2.0 Tdi. Tried loads of others...Michelin, Pirelli, Continental, dunlop (i get through quite a lot of tyres! lol) ....and to be honest, I've found them all a bit lacking in one department or another. Either really good in the dry and crap in the rain...great round corners but no straight line braking ability etc.

So, I spoke to Elite Tyres in Essex and they told me about the Vredestien....and I have to admit....I am VERY impressed and would recommend them to anyone! And they're quite a bit cheaper then the usual brands. On my second set now...and I love them!

Give them a try, you wont be dissappointed! ;)

I was just about to recommend these. I've always found the best all inclusive price on their site and all our family use them. Buy online and fitted by appointment at your local NTS. I can't fault the system at all.

Thanks for all the good advice guys, in the end I bought a pair of Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymms via ebay from a chap who trades in tyres in Huddersfield and as I'm in Leeds I visited him. I paid £210 in total including balancing, valves and fitting, that's a staggering saving over the michelins for which best price I was quoted was £168 per tyre.

Top notch service from these guys, wouldnt go anywhere else now!! Got 4 F1 Asymmetrics on my previous S4 from them, totally transformed the car. Have 2 Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas on the rear which I got off them also on my current car...fantastic grip on a FWD car...cant rate them highly enough next to the Goodyears! :D
