Against the wiser adviceof A8tech I had cruise and genuine bluetooth retrofitted to my B8 S-line with Audi infotainment. The guys installed it well and the cruise is brilliant but they have been unable to encode the blutooth module. Their software (Vagcom I believe) is not yet updated. From other posts it appears that the Kufatech kit may have been a better bet.
I took the car into my local dealer for other work and asked them to enable it. I paid £50 + vat but got no further down the road. It seems that the Audi central computer now knows I have bluetooth - but thats it.
The unit works at a basic level. If I call using the phone it routes through the car mike and speakers but the telephone screen on the infotainment unit just says please wait or SIM not inserted. No phone book or list of calls etc. It's nearly three months now and I'm wondering whether to ask them to take it out and try the Kufatech kit- I guess this gets around the module encoding problem.
Does anyone know any more on this.

Ok the dealer wont be able to help you on this as the long codes need to be altered first in the radio and the gateway and the bt unit needs to be changed plus you need the correct bt unit for b8 a4.I suggest you run a vcds scan and then send a direct email to ross tech support and i would seek out Sebastian Strange.
I have done this with the dealers vas 5051b but again the vag server has seen there is a bt unit fitted and this will just wipe all the manual codes for this system and resend the original codes and adaptions for the vehicle when connected to the dealer vas tester.
The best option i have found with b8 with the vcds long code helper is to store the codes and adaptation channels from full spec cars and use them as a reference for retro fitting so you can enable the radio for phone prep and gateway code.My vag com (vcds) is running the latest version and i have no problems i cant give you the codes or the hex/bin codes but ross tech will after reading your diagnostic log.
If they can help you and you change what needs changing then always tell the dealer not to carry out a Software version management test as this will rewrite the codes back to original.
Re reading your thread i may be able to fix this. The phone prep can be seen by vag com so the gateway is correct and you have no operation from the mmi screen for phone. If you have vag com as the fault lies in the radio long code so i need to see all the 13 bytes and i can tell you which and what to change.I'm off till next week but i have written down the meanings of the bytes after my first AMI retro fit i worked them out

Example radio
Coding: 00 02 00 80 01 01 0D 00 03 5B 07 00 00

also you need to post the phone control unit (bt) code

To add my new years Resolution is to spend less time on all the forums i use and concentrate only on audi forums to reduce time spent so my answer may not be quick in coming and i wont be answering new posts only existing posts that automatically go to my email but i shall still cover the two other audi only forums to repay the Christmas overdraft lol
