My X reg Audi Cab (2l 5 cyl) is due for a service shortly and I am considering upgrading the suspension. The reason being there is a lot more scuttle shake than I would like. I'm hoping the problem might be a lot simpler and changing bushes (and buying better tyres?) might make a difference but in case I do need to change the suspension, I'd like to know what options I have other than the standard suspension.

Are there other owners who have changed their suspension? What did you go with and how do you find it?

Also, is it worth upgrading to powerflex bushes instead of standard ones?

I’m also considering buying a strut brace. I'm hoping that too will make a significant difference. Can anyone recommend where I can source a good strut brace from at a reasonable price?

I had a 5 cyl cab that had no brace. The top and bottom of the centre console had been messed around with and weren't really connected properly any more, when going round corners you could see the two swaying in opposite directions as the car shook, was a bit scary to see that much movement!

I then sold it and bought a 2.6 v6 which has the strut brace as standard, and there is a world of difference. Bushes and suspension would probably only highlight the problem further as you are sending more vibrations through the car.

I have heard people say the powerflex upgrade is worth while for the general handling of the car and I'm thinking about it myself, but I doubt that it or stiff suspension would help the shake.

I ended up getting new front suspension (standard) during the service as it was on its last legs. Cost me a couple of quid but the car is soooo much better to drive now.

I'd still like to buy a strut brace for the car as im sure this will improve handling.

Anyone know where I can find one? Or does anyone know of reputable after market specialists for Audi?
