Where is best place to find a road/track car?

Just returned to UK after living 9 years in Toronto and want to get myself into a road legal car that is modified to make it a more exciting track car. Use of the car would be mainly track days, but needs to be road legal to make the two hour trip to my nearest track.

Is there a specific forum or magazine that I should be looking at to pick up a good deal.

Very undecided what I should get, willing to spend up to £10k. Leaning towards 350Z, Cooper S or VW GTi (Mk 5).

I think you'd have a lot more fun if you bought a MK4 4Motion and spend the rest of the 10K under the bonnet. ;)
