21 mpg in town 1.9 tdi130 bhp pd tiptronic y reg 55k on clock ,as per other posts car went to dealer that i bought it from ,not vw, told them wanted MAF replaced 20 mins later phone call ,cant replace it as no proof that is problem so they have booked it in to local vw dealer to go on there computer to look for faults , this is cool as they will find any other probs that car has and it will not cost me as i have a 1 year warrenty and only had car 3 weeks , 2 weeks when reported problem ,but am i ight in saying MAF problem will not show on diagnostics ? any one any ideas as to what else it could be ? car looses a bi of power sometimes , not to fast to acceerate, going up hills looses a bit of power ,

Hi Gary,
I forgot to reconnect the MAF sensor once after servicing the car (muppet)
and it felt as if the turbo had been nicked !
I ran VAG COM diagnostics and the fault showed up as :MAF sensor open/short.
Apparently Ford MAF sensors are cleanable ( which sometimes restores normal power)but I don't know about the ones fitted to VW

deffo connected , whether it is working or not is a diffrent matter , we will see on tuesday

'Normal' MAF issues do not show up on VAG-COM/diagnositcs, apart from by implication (ie, car not making the power/torque it should).
best thing to do would be ensure the dealer also test drive and experience the problem...

As Carps says. AMM (MAF) will not show a fault if it's merely not thinking right. A good spannermonkey will know this and trust the other signs. Not much work to replace it IMO, suck it and see.
