i just checked the vin number on the golf i just bought and hpi'd it, it all adds up but i thought the idea of a vin number was that it was stamped into the metal not just a black sticker thing, is there a stamped one anywhere as there isnt anything in the door sills either?

There should be a metal plate with the VIN on it. Think it could be under the bonnet somewhere. Sorry I can't be more precise.

well i thought they had to be metal to stop illegal stuff, but my brother is a mechanic for ford and reacons that a lot are just stickers now.

anyone know where i can find the metal one exactly?

The only stamped Vin number is on the bulk head under the clear plastic on the scuttle panel, the black plastic sticker is all thats required with the vehicle weight and engine code it doesn't have to be metal also check they all have the same number on as well as the visable vin on the bottom left hand corner of the windscreen.
