new headlights

I have an 02 mk4, and want to upgrade to xenon headlights - how can i find out whether i need H1, H3 or H7 - does it even matter??

I am assuming you will be looking to buy a xenon conversion kit rather than persue the OEM route?

Well if you just do a google search for xenon kits i think you will find a few suppliers on there who will either be able to tell you which kit you need there and then, or via email.

I assume you are aware that the kits are illegal? I dont know how likely it is that you are caught or what the insurance ramifications are, needless to say it stopped me from buying a kit.

dont do a conversion kit unless you are going to fit headlight washers and levelers.

standard headlights arent designed for higher light output so causes an inconsistant beam that is higher then standard and far too dazzeling for other road users

you can tell which headlights are illegal and which arent very easily so police will catch you in the dark

and i think the standard bulbs are h7 so common sence would suggest to me that hid kits would have to be the same? no idea though
