Hello all. First post.
Just pressed the button on my new company car order. It is:
A4 Avant TDI 143 SE
Brilliant Red
Light grey cloth sports seats
Interior light pack
Hill hold
Rear side airbags
I have deliberated over this decision for weeks now and in the end I got it down to the A4 or a BMW 318d ES Touring. I liked both cars but in the end the low spec on the ES and the less practical boot pushed me towards the Audi.
It's just that when you read Autocar like I do they would always go for the BMW over the Audi for it's drive. In fact they would it seems go for a Mondeo, Insignia or Accord over the Audi.
Go on! reassure me I have made the right decision haven't I?

You most certainly have! I've had my SE saloon since June, and I love it. Great car, unless you need to drive in the snow!!

It's a no brainer, IMO Audi wins hands down every time on everything, build quality, looks, image etc etc.
Good colour choice by the way !!!

I hope that you don't have to wait as long as I do (see thread'long time to wait for new car') I've gone for a SE Saloon in Aruba blue, Light grey cloth sports seats, cruise, interior light and storage packs. I wish I could add 18" 5 spokes now that I've seen a few on the road, but that's a different thread! let me know what your delivery date is. Cheers

Just been told second week of March for delivery.
Interesting delivery date. I ordered my A4 in Oct.
Avant S Line in Sphere Blue (Has anyone got a picture of a sphere blue car) I've taken a risk !
Cruise Control and Heated Seats.
Debadged with Black Stitching on the seat in leau of Silver.
Thought it was being delivered this week and had a call last week to say third week in Feb now earliest!!
Not such a bad thing as I currently have a first class A3 to drive but it seems you cant give your money away... I know there have been cut backs in he factory due to the credit crunch but the long wait hardly makes you want to que up for a new car does it ?

Also ordered an Avant S-Line. Ordered in Oct, got two December delivery dates and have just been advised mid January. Apparently the car is built but is at a dock awaiting shipment to the UK......and there was me hoping for an early Xmas present!

I read that test too. Autocar just like things the way they are! The Audi tested was about £4000 more and should not be tested versus Mondeo etc only Mercedes, BMW and maybe Volvo, Jaguar or SAAB
You have made the right choice :approve:

I am sure you have made the right choice. I have had my black 1.8T SE Avant since July and as the miles go on it and it loosens up it just feels better and better. I also went for the sports seats which gives you the electric lumbar support and find them firm but comfortable.
As for how it looks, when it's clean, I think it is head and shoulders above any other mid size estate on the road.
I am sure you won't be disappointed when yours arrives.

Hi there,
...Happy New Year folks! Just read your post...sorry don't expect you want to hear this but I have to say you should have gone for the BMW. It's a better car, and I wish I bought it. I had a Ford Focus TDCI 115 Durotourque before eventualy getting the A4. Without getting into too much detail, it is a rubbish engine and has less torque than the Foucs. The engine sounds like a bag of nails at high revs compared to the Focus which surprisingly has at grunty-trans-am sounding engine yet it's very smooth. I wish I bought the All road 3LQ...took one out for a burn and that is one great car! But the bottom line is the A4 has the velbon snob factor that I require...I am a car snob and had to ditch the focus...
Ciao

What's an All Road 3LQ?? Not seen that car before...
And yep bit of a step up from the Focus to the A4- not tempted by a Mondeo, seeing as you love the Ford engines so much? :p

TDCI engine Versus the Common Rail 2.0TDI VAG Engine  - Driven both as my wife had a Focus but now drives an Ibiza now. Your Bag of Nails comment does not added up really does it?
Come on. BMW's are nice cars but Avant Versus Touring is a win everytime for Audi - I have had a BMW 325d Touring lovely engine went well but it didn't do it for me. BMW in my eyes do not make a good estate car. Saloon & Coupe yes brilliant ones but not estates
