I have noticed that when I open the drivers door to get into the car (B8 Avant) I hear a faint motor running for about 3 seconds. It reminds me of the noise door mirror adjust motor makes, but I can't see anything moving.

I notice this more 1st thing in the morning when leaving home, when its quiet.

Any ideas?

Happens on mine too.

Certain it's not something to worry about. My B6 A4 made a similar noise when I opened drivers door, just much quieter.

i *think* these are the indoor heaters.
On cold cold mornings these come on to remove any ice/frost from the locking mechanism.

But the noise happens after you open the door? (too late for heaters)

No idea but our past 3 Golfs all made a similar noise...wondered if it was to do with the fuel system? Nothing to worry about though.

I asked the same on another forum. Most people seem to agree that it's the fuel pump priming since it's located low to the ground. That seems to be the best explaination so far.
