Air Con System Pressure

Does anyone know what sort of pressure the air con system runs at?Taking an engine out and don`t want to damage pipes but am worried in case it happens.Thanks.

You can't just release the gas to atmosphere, it's illegal needs to be removed properly !!! Just move all the pipes and components to one side.

I don`t want to let gas escape.I`m worried about it hurting someone if a pipe is ruptured.

If you puncture a pipe, the gas is very cold as it escapes and can cause freeze burns, if you are worried, get a mobile A/C firm to come out and evacuate the system before you start.

As already pointed out, it's illegal to released refrigerant into the atmosphere. The other thing is that one of the common CFCs (depends on how old your car is) decomposes into phosgene - the gas used by the Nazis. Enjoy.
