Key Number - how do I find it?

Hi. I need to get a spare key cut and there's a chap on fleabay who will cut one from my key number - but I can't find it! :confused:

any one know how / where to find it please?

You dont need a number you can take the key to a locksmiths and they will cut it, it wont run the engine though but it will open the car doors and boot.

Thanks for that but none of my local locksmiths seem able to cut one.

i really want it to start the car as well. Is that function the bit where the "Recoding" comes in? as there surely isn't any transponder or the likes, in the metal blade, or is there??????

As I said, I want to use my old spare fob, get it re-coded and insert a new "Blade" that's been cut to fit my locks. Are you suggesting that I won't be able to start the car if I follow this course of action?:confused:
