Hi all. I own a mk4 gti turbo with lots of extra bits on it lol (See list below), the problem im having with it is that when i recharged the battery (Off the car as it had gone flat) the car now seems to hunt when at idle, the revs go up and down for approx 10seconds! and it pops out the exhaust very loudly when on decelleration. The manifolds cracked but i will weld it at the weekend which could be contributing to the exhaust pop.

Plugs maybe? (I havent checked these yet.) Idle control sensor? MAF sensor? throttle position sensor?

Im reall stuck as if the revs drop enough the car cuts out so I end up faffing in traffic.:aargh4: It used to be fine but after i put the battery back on its gone to pot!

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

The cars engine spec is below if it helps..

Audi TT 2.0 engine
Mapped
Custom stainless hose kit
Intercooler
Garrett t3
Bailey dump valve
Samco hoses
Stainless exhaust manifold
3"exhaust straight from the turbo- 1 rear silencer

All in all puts out 270bhp.

Ta,Jim.

air temp sensor. If i unplugged this on my old petrol car it would suffer rough idle

yup sounds like your TB to me! it might be due for a good clean, I would advise taking it to a dealer though, the butterfly valve in the throttle body is very sensitive and can ruin it if pushed and pulled by hand.

It could also be the MAF which is fairly common on this engine. but as its only happened on changing the battery, my money is on the throttle body!
