chk chk noise sounds like a belt

:confused::aargh4:hi all i got a 51 plate mk4 golf gt tdi 110 bhp, and when starting it up in the morning theres a squeaking noise, like a mouse getting squashed over and over, eek eek then when it warms up it quietens down thanx :confused:

Maybe you actually have a colony of mice living in your car that worship the great engine god and each morning they sacrifice one their kind to the great engine god and that the squeak noise actually is a mouse gettting squashed?

I'd look for bit of straw and the tell tale droppings. To fix this, you'd need to remove their food source, and that probably means being more careful with your sausage roll crumbs and not idlely tossing the sausage roll wrappers over your shoulder to the back seat anymore as the wrappers would also contain crumps which they could eat.

Probably the aux belt is worn.

Whip it it off to replace and whilst off, check all the pulleys for free movement / stiffness.

thanx and i found a mouse running round my turbo like a hamster in a ball lol, sorted it out when i revved the engine,

I had the same thing on my Bora 130 TDI. Only happened on cold starts. Did NOT happen if I set the aircon to ECON so I suspected the aircon fan. A squirt of WD40 appears to have cured it.
