Hi All,

I just bought a 55 plate A4 Avant with 89k on the clock and a full Audi service history, it runs great, nice and smooth with the tiptronic auto box but my wife complains that it's noisy and sounds like a bus and am I am kinda inclined to agree with her to a certain degree. It definately doesn't sound as refined as other diesels on the road and am wondering if anyone has any thoughts about this. I don't think there is anything wrong with the car mechanically I just think the engine is loud.

Thanks for reading

Ally

The 2.0 16v PD (Pumpe Düse or pump injector) TDI is noisy compared to other manufacturer’s common rail injection units and indeed the current range of VAG common rail injection engines.

could be,might not be,but the E.G.R cooler might be blowing, common fault on the 2.0 TDI engine.

Me neither, in a slightly odd mood! Off to spend money at the IPMS in the morning, like an excited child! :D

Hi,

Thanks for the replies. So I take it only an Audi dealership (or indie specialist) can check if this valve is needing replaced, any idea what kind of cost this would be to have checked and, if required, replaced?

Thanks,

Ally

cant remeber how much the cooler costs,I would just get someone at your local audi dealer to have a look at your vehicle for you,If this part
needs changing they will inform you,and they will ask the parts dept to price it up aswell.

It could be that it's never had the E,G,R cooler recall:confused:

cheers
Joe

So from what you're saying is that the EGR has been the subject of a recall already? Guess the best way to find out is to call my local Audi dealership.

Cheers all
