As i slowly loose the battle with my bald spot i ponder the question I'm asked whilst the hair gel puff who cuts my hair.Tapered or square neck sir.
As if this matters and why does this puff keep feeling my ears.So are you a square necker or a tapper and what does it actually mean.Asbo my apprentice says he asks for a rimming when this puff with more gearbox oil on his head than in his fiesta cuts his bonce.

What the hell are you talking about? :p
It is nice to hear that you haven't given up on your hair and adopted the crew cut that seems to be so prevelant these days. So many people "I get the wife to do it with clippers." as a result they look like a bonehead.
This is ok if you are bordering into proper slaphead territory but if you have hair, have it properly cut cut.
As for square or tapered, I don't know, but vaguely recall a bit of folklore I may have once heard dictating that having it tapered means you are a prancing susan.
As for having it cut, don't do the gents barbers and certainly don't do a male salon thing. Spend a few more quid and go for a proper girly salon type place. If your lucky a proper fit bird will cut your hair and if your really lucky she will have big hooters which she will press them into you whilst doing the tricky bits.
It makes an otherwise horrible experience into a very nice one.
Square or tapered ?
I'm a square man myself, I think its the backof the hair is cut square to the neck.
tapered is what us oldies used to call a D.A. (ducks ****).....
i find having my hair cut is one of the most relaxing experiences. Not the most relaxing, but its up towards the top of the list.

Not if a man is feeling your ears and i love the bit when they shave my ears and my eyebrows i was wondering if they will shave my nose.Sorry if this is weird but Ive been outside in the cold all day fitting cambelts and that makes the mind wonder.

Gave up with the Salon thing early this year. Little QV now 16 needs it more than me. £26 for a haircut on a bloke who's two bald spots are going to meet is just not on.
I go to a barbers now, a proper man's barbers. As for tapered or square I really have no idea.

Tapered or square? No idea either.
But I go to a bloke's barber, none of that fancy salon stuff. Haircut for about £12... t'is all good.

Why do i think i am opening myself up to negative comments here?....... :afro:
Anyway, allow me to offer some guidance:
http://www.ftmguide.org/images/blockvstaper.gif
The "blocked nape" is what is generally referred to as being the "square cut", where as the tapered is where the hair is feathered into the collar line.
About two years ago, my hair was down to my *** ( i had been growing it for about 8 years and wearing either tied back for work (pony tail style) or rock concert style (like a roadie from a AC/DC concert (http://a.bebo.com/app-image/7926893034/5411656627/PROFILE/i.quizzaz.com/img/q/u/08/03/24/01HeavyMetalDevil.jpg) )
Having been blessed with a good head of hair, i have had a great many styles over the years, but having had long hair for so long, i had to seek out a decent comprise between a traditional barbers and a more girly salon when i found out the place i used to use, had closed :(
Funny isn't it when you ask most blokes about where they get theyre hair cut, how vague they suddenly get "yeah i get mine done by the bloke down the road/village/high street" etc.
Luckily, after asking around my mates, I stumbled across one place that had given haircuts to 3 of them.
I'm please to say, they do a good job, the barber doesnt behave like Julian Clary, they make you a nice coffee, have a telly, a selection of papers to read, and a young lass with nice baps as a receptionist ;)

My barber has two blokes and one girl doing the cuts and I have had them all :p. They have started a cut throat Demon barber shaving service too. I am going to leave that out though.
Mine is on a village green, a very posh area of Worsley. They charge £7.50 and the shop is full of car mags too. My last place had hair and womens mags, and no not the topless ones.
One of the barbers lives in Little Hulton. Coppers don't go there on their own. Some of the stories he has told me about how they deal with thieving ********..

What with the missus being a hairmesser, it would be foolish to go elsewhere for my trims, given the fact that I apparently have 'male pattern baldness', or rather the beginnings of, it's pretty much pointless trying to 'style' my hair anyway :Blush2:

I too had hair to my bottom for 6 years, then got it cut to just below my shoulders for another 8 years.
Then, almost a year ago I decided to get my first proper hair cut.
Best thing I ever did. I don't have half the amount of messing around to do in the mornings any more I don't get comblines if it hasn't been washed every damned day and so on.
14 years with girls hair was long enough, now I'm a grown up :D
Mrs VW's mate does our hair, I get to finish work early and have a woman play with my hair for 10 minutes, best use of my time.....ever!

i decided that hair was for gay men about 8 years ago and bought myself some clippers, i have the right head for it and get a lot of respect because of my thuggish good looks :biglaugh: people who come to the door selling stuff tend to take a step back when i answer the door and it kind of puts their sales skills on the back burner as they try and leave sharpish, chicks love it, the mrs loves it and i fit in where i work, some of the engineers at our place have pony tails etc and as my dad once said, their is only one thing under a pony tail :biglaugh:

That is what I was trying to say, especially if they have lush hooters.

Since the testosterone caused a significant bald spot I went for the DIY approach with clippers so I am that bone head :D
Square or tapered? To be honest neither, it's furry most of the time because the clippers don't work too well for that kind of finish and I can't see what I am doing (and I don't have a better half to help).
It is less of an issue than what is growing out of my ears, nose and eye brows though. How come they are not affected???
I have decided to go for a 'comb over' using my ear hair and pasting it to my scalp with the handily available wax in that area.
Should look a treat :biglaugh:

First thing first, there's no such thing as a bald spot. They who sport a follically-depleted pate must be insistent that it is infact a solar panel for a love machine!!
I must say, I'm quite glad I'm of the furry-bonced variety, but I just thought I'd offer that little pearl of wisdom for the benefit of our cranially-reflective members.
My dad's still got a fluffy noggin at 68 which bodes well, he's not even got an egg in the nest!
As for mop chopperies, I too couldn't let those halcyon grunge days of the early 90's go & had long hair for many years (it's still not properly short now, 2 or 3 inches of tattiness) but when I did chop it from being properly long a few years ago I went into Chester & sought a proper salon & had an aesthetically pleasing young lass do a very good job of it rather than have some hairy-***** berk butcher it.
Last chop, a couple of weeks ago, was in a local salon & again a very good job was done by a young female of a visually satisfying nature for the princely sum of £9! Bonza!! :approve:

Congratulations beautiful baby but........................as a baldy I have the ultimate evidence.
My ex wife needed fertility treatment due to 'womans problems' to produce our daughter. As part of the process my verility was of course checked and the consultant advised us I had an 'extraordinarily' high sperm count.
Oh, yes who's the top daddy...........it's a baldy :D:D:D

Baldness is to do with an excess of testosterone as Dudey remarked which is why you don't see many women with this problem,
Still some of you guys are at the stage 3 of the process,
stage 1 is the grommet which you swear you don't have or don't know
Stage 2 is the high forehead wide parting syndrome, the trick there is to not do a Bobby Charlton and do a combover.
Stage 3 is the is it square or is it tapered neck!
Stage 4 is the down to the last five hairs, "which side does sir want it parted?" **** it leave it scruffy.
and finally stage 5 is the syrup
I am at stage 4 and will never get a rug while there's still breath in me carcass!
Heh heh heh

If you are going to be a slaphead, don't pay attention to your Dad or Dads Dad, you need to look at your Mums Dad or Mums Grandad.
The slaphead gene is inherited from the maternal side of your family.

I was under the impression it comes from your mothers line, but I read something somewhere (can't remember where or when) that it can be influenced from the fathers side as well.

Of course there are distinct advantages about being a slaphead:
-You don't have to worry about going out in windy weather.
-You can shout out "BALDY" in the street and no one will suspect it was you.
-Dandruff is a thing of the past.
-No need to spend rip off prices on hair products.
-And judging by what hairdressers charge, another fortune saved. AND you don't get some ponce tickling yer lugholes.
Flippin eck, the last time I went to a hairdresser's (when there was still some hair worth cutting :biglaugh:) it was near enough still in old money.....LOL
