View Full Version : Water gets into my boot lid - but how ???

Hi

Every morning when I open my boot lid I find water has got into the cavity of the boot lid.

However I cant fathom out how it can get in there because the top of the boot lid is perfectly flat, and the obvious place through the light fittings doesnt seem possible because of the design of the boot lid and the fact that the lights are on the side...

Has anybody ever experienced this problem and discovered where it gets in ?

Cheers!

Brett

Remove the tail lights and smear some silicone sealant on the lights gaskets... It might had some paint job recently and the gaskets dont seal properly.

Out of interest what is involved in removing the tail lights ?

I am not sure if this is standard on the cabriolet, but both the left and right rear lights appear to be joined as one complete unit including the central number plate surround. Also, tied into this unit is the boot lock/central locking mechanism

So is this a straight forward job to do ?

Dont know mate as i never removed lights on a cabriolet but there is only one way to find out if its straight forward to do....If unsure get it to a garage and pay the premium.
