Hi
I've got a 2005 Passat 130TDI
and i've just had a service done by a local garage(not vw dealer) and they cannot get the service indicator reset!! it keeps saying that I require a service. I've looked at the handbook and tried to reset it following the instructions in the book, with no success.:zx11: does anyone know how to reset it????????? Help:aargh4:

Is it nagging you when you start the engine, or is it simply showing "SERVICE NOW" when you do the trip counter button thing? I believe it takes about 300 miles for that particular message to reset itself from what I've read here.

AFAIK the procedure in the handbook only works for the standard time/distance service interval.

If your car was set for long-life service, there is a different procedure.

I don't remember what it is, but it is in the Haynes manual, if you have one.

If not, try searching the forum - I'm sure it has been posted before.

Ok, ive got an 03 passat tdi sport, and ive just been out and tried all conbinations, left/ right buttons in whilst ignition switched on and off but it made no difference. I then noticed the reset button under the right stalk, i believed this to only reset the rain sensitive wipers, but held it in and turned ignition on, off and on again and the service warning has gone out.

Im not sure what cars this works on, but it worked on mine. Good luck.

Chris.

What spec oil did they use? was it longlife? If so the service interval message will need reseting with vag com.

Have a look here (http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=5319) there might be someone close to you that will reset it for :beerchug:.

Hold both buttons (Clock and odometer) down and turn the ignition on and hold for 10 seconds. The service now message should stay on the screen. Release both buttons then turn the left button to the right, if not turn the right button right).

Worked on my MK4 Golf, A6 and a friends MK4.

Cheers, Mark

Note that will only be correct if it is on fixed yearly 10000 mile service intervals. The is not the way to reset longlife varible service intervals.

I thought this proceedure reset it to standard service intervals if it was on variable?
