Be careful with comments like that. Even though I'm inclined to agree with your view, this particular c**t might actually thrive in the current economic climate and get all of us out of the s**t...
He's still got a lot to do though. If he wants to end up in my good books he'll still need to be able to get rid of this backdated VED (although I won't be affected by it I'm still supporting the poor sods who're on the receiving end of this backhanded tax scheme). Second of all, he was one of the people who set up the FSA which was to monitor the banks and prevent them from putting us in the position we eventually ended up in. I would be very interested to hear his view on why the FSA has failed...

I'd agree with that, I'm quite impressed with how he's handled it so far. All this crunchy credit business makes fuel prices & VED look like a fart in the wind! I'd certainly trust Gordon Brown with this 'swear' up more than I would David Cameron.
I've been sayin for years that you can go way too far with leaving free market economics to just get on with it. While the pigs in paradise gorge at the financial troughs the rest of us run round squealing looking for scraps! Time for a bit of nationalising of utility supplies and public transport now as well!

He certainly does a lot of talking.

The problem is, he's only saying this to try and improve his standing in the poles. Yet on the other hand the government wants to cut CO2 emissions by 80% by 2050. Anyone else see the paradox here? He giveth with one hand and taketh away more with the other.:zx11:

Notice it is the Companies that need to drop the price.... NOT they are going to cut the tax!

Exactly what I was going to say. A step in the right direction would be to scrap the new road tax right here right now, lower some of the tax on fuel.
Don't the government realise that the reason our economy thrives is because of our transportation system? With the fuel and road tax, etc hikes, it's just going to slowly ruin it!

Exactly as per Stuart and Odie. Oh yeah, it's the oil companies fault *rolls eyes*.
Was a bit mythed earlier today, don't know if anybody knows the route I'm on about, heading through Wythenshawe on the way to Timperley, I went past two Shell garages. One of them had petrol at 104.9p (I'm not interested in petrol anyway, all of my cars are diesels) and less than a mile up the road on the other side was another Shell garage selling petrol at 99.9p.

To be honest, fuel prices are the least of our worries at the moment, I'm far more bothered about the small architectural practice that I work for staying afloat (the building industry has been absolutely flattened thanks to the w(b)ankers (astonishing that those two words rhyme so well, it's as if somebody long ago knew!!) & their unbridled greed & selfishness) & keeping a roof over my family's head & food on the table.
The Conservatives are all about de-regulated capitalism which has landed us right where we are now.
I'd rather pay £200 a year more road tax & keep my job & home.
The business I work for is staying afloat at the moment pretty much because we do quite a lot of work for the NHS, which thankfully is not a commercial concern.
