i have a 2001 passat auto wiv 75k on clock its a 2.0 s and drives very slow 4 sum reason, feels like a 1.4 engine any help please wot could b wrong wiv this car????
also i have no engine lights on my dash but 4 some reason the temp gauge works when it feels like it wots wrong with this please??
The temp sensor is what may be making the car slow.
If the ECU is getting the wrong signal from the temp sensor then it will be be fuelling and timing incorrectly.
The temp sensors are renowned for going awol. They are an easy diy fix and with some G12 antifreeze to top up should cost you around £25 plus an hour of your time.

thanks 4 a quick reply but my friend put my car on a computer fault reader and nothing came up on this computer, told me that the gauge on the dash could b at fault. so u think by changing the sensor should help?
coz it does rev quite high n drain my petrol and pickup very slow

also g12 antifreeze is that just ordinery antifreeze or somthing special??
do u also have any idea how much power my car has
2.0 s auto 51 plate
thanks
A faulty temp sensor will not neccessarily produce a fauly code as it would still be producing a signal.
However that signal can be totally wrong, which in your case is exactly what is happening as you are saying the temp gauge only works when it wants to.
These are a very common fault and VW will probably provide a modified version when you buy a new one.

I thought the 2.0 made 115bhp.
Sad to say this but they are knick-named the "2.slo" / "2.slow"
G12 is not normal antifreeze. You need to use it or a G12 equivalent. Mixing it with normal blue glycol stuff can cause sludging in the cooling system.

G12 coolant is meant to be in the system for the life of your vehicle Dont mix G12 with normal ethlene glycol based antifreeze. You can have one or the other but not mixed.

G12 wouldnt have any effect on performance. If the coolant in pink (or blue if its none genuine VAG coolant) you have g12 in the system. If its green you have standard glycol based antifreeze.

hi all,
i have a 2001 vw pasaat 2.0se and the problem ive had for quite a long time is that the engine management light remains on which inturn makes the car not start sometimes with an indicator on the on screen computer telling me TO STOP MOTOR, oil pressure
i have had the car hooked up to a computer and that shows that the oil is too rich in cylinder 1..
can anyone help me in solving this problem of mine or will i have to take it to the dealers???
the car itself runs fine and has been for a yr or so since the engine management light has been on but its when i drive the car in the morninig for a mile or so to the shops, it doesnt start when i get bk in it, if i drive the car for quite a while, i dont encounter that problem...
its a weird one and am hoping someone has been thru this same problem or knows anything bout it, if so email me back..
regards
Mh

1st of all my friend u could have started a new thread in order for ppl to see this nevamind.
ok best thing to do is break down the problems, then repair 1 by 1 and see wot faults clear on the reader. also could be any sensor on the engine that needs replaceing. did u scan the whole engine for faults or jus 1 part??
