Hi All,
I have fitted a Parrot LS3200 in my 57 passat, the parrot kit needs an ignition live and as the ciggy lighters in the passat are dead when key out, i picked up the fuse point for the 12v socket in the boot (tapped into fuse board to end of dash - drivers side)
All works fine, apart from with the nokia n82 it steps in when ever you press a button on the phone or battery flat sounds, can be a pain when steering with my knees at 120 trying to have text sex with he MRS and it disturbs CHER's greatest hits on the CD with every button press - :biglaugh:
Now to the question - a mate of mine has just got a 58 Touran, he has ordered the Parrot and the SOT 076 lead, just awaiting delivery - are the 12V sockets in the Touran dead with the key out? If yes thats easy othewise i think i may have to get the meter out and find a spare fuse slot thats live ign on and dead ign off.
Also its fitted with the RCD 310 - are these the same at the back as the RCD300 as i know the SOT 076 fits the 300 with the two lives swapped round at the fuses but hopefully it will be the same on the 310.
Any comments / ideas woud be appreciated.
Many thanks

Hi The Fingers!
How did your mate get on with fitting. I am about to fit a 3100 and have found a SOt-976 which has a blue fly ignition. Would this work?
Many Thanks

Hi There,
I managed to get a SOT 076, you need to swap over the orange and red wires at the fuses, then wire the ignition live into the ciggy lighter.
Other than that it was a simple install, carefull getting the trim off though, it does pull just do it slowly and gently.
It took about 15 - 20 mins
Good luck

Hi fingers
cheers buddy. Not looking forward to taking off the trim. I am not sure of my radio model but did your mates have the small cubby hole under the radio. Do you still pull the trim from the bottom and remove the stereo using the four bolts at the back.
Last question (for now), where did you get the SOT lead?
cheers

Hi Again,
The radio fitted in his was the new RCD 510 Touch Screen, the trim is a little scary, however i found that a good almost jerky pull from the bottom pops the first two clips, then work your way to the top.
The radio is just four t20?? screws and then it slides out, there was a couple of locators to the rear of the stereo (non in my passat) with rubber in them, watch they dont pop out (they almost keep the rear of the stereo in the right place).
The main issue is hiding all the bloody cable of the kit / sot lead behind the dash.
If you dont do the ignition feed to the ciggy lighter then the kit will be on all the time, the ciggy lighter in the touran is very easy to get to. pop off the trim and undo the screws.
The SOT 076 came from http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/car-audio-centre-manchester.htm about £ 15 - 20 i think, but i did buy a aux lead at the same time. There are a few phone mute cables on it (3 i think) but any of them seemed to work.
Good luck it is easier than you think.

Top Man!! i will attempt this once Santas been :-)
My plan is to put the mic in the light cluster on the roof, running the cable up the A pillar.
Do you have any photos of your mates installation?

Sounds daft but i actually fitted the mic just under the dash, bringing the wire out of the side of the stereo cover at the bottom right hand corner, using gaps to get it just under the corner, there is quite a good plastic stick on bit for the mic with the parrot kit, sound pick up is fine on all i have done this way.
The actual parrot head unit on the touran is stuck with the pad provided onto the dash just to the left of steering wheel, again getting the cable out from side of the dash trim, just fits between trim and dash with no issue, it looks very neat.
I find this keeps the pulling the car apart down to a minimum. only trim to remove is the stereo cover and ciggy lighter bit.
I didn't take any photo's as it was a quick lunch time install, but if i can get me and him in the same county for more than 10 mins i will get some.
