radio takes about a minute to turn on??

hi,have just got an 03 golf gt 130 tdi.it has the standard cd player fitted.when you turn it on it takes about a minute to actually come alive.any ideas??:(

Hi Richard when you say come alive do u mean that you get no display and no audio?
