Hi Guys, I have just bought a final edition cabriolet 2.6 MY 2000 and I have a very anoying bulb failure warning light on the dash. I have been arround all the exterior bulbs checking them and that the contacts are OK and all works fine. Light still on :-( any ideas on how to get this fixed ?
Also were is the diagnostic socket ?

Are the headlights on both sides of the same rating ? (eg both 60W/55W). I have seen the Autocheck light light come on if there are lamps of different ratings fitted on either side. Not sure if that is the case with your car but worth considering.
On some vehicles (not sure if this is included on your car) the brake lights are also part of the test but the Autocheck light would only come on if the brake lights weren't working when the brake pedal was pressed.
Hope that this helps,
Bob

Hi Bob, Thanks for your ideas but no problems with either :-( I have a lead on order from eBay so hopefully there might be a useful diagniostic message that I can read but I haven't got my hopes up. Next post might read "How do you turn off the DIS" ...

Finally fixed this guy today boy has it been bugging me. Turned out to be a mishaped retaining spring on the back of the dipped headlight bulb. Basically the bulb was loose in the housing so it wasn't getting a good earth. It worked fine though so not easy to find. Also the fault doesn't clear straight away I had to drive it a few times first after wards before it finally cleared itself. Well chuffed now though.
