diesel cleaner?

Is it safe to use a good quality diesel/fuel system cleaner in my a6 diesel.I have read that VW and Audi do NOT recommend the use of additives in the fuel.:confused:

Buy a pot of Millers Diesel Sport 4 - you won't regret it - and keep using it as an additive, not just as a one-off else the difference will be hard to tell.
