Hi guys, I'm new here, thought I'd say hello!

I'm picking up a new Golf GTI Pirelli later on today. My first VW, going over from an RX8.

So, hello!

Cheers

I just got the insurance sorted on it, a killer £2k a year! I have 2 years no claims, and 6 points on my license (was 10 earlier in the year)

Anyone else know of anywhere cheaper?

Phew, I cancelled the insurance. I got it through RAC for £1000 a year. That's fair I think, considering I've had a near right off in the past year and got caught doing 115mph on the A1m, at 4am no other car on the road apart from the police car I over took I must add as I don't normally do that kind of speed on motorways!

Anyway, good to be here, I'll post some pics up later...

£1k, that's a bit more like it!

Out of interest how have you had a near right off but still got 2 years no claims? Protected?

Considering the accident and the state of your licence £1k starts to sound like a bargain! :biglaugh:

£2000 for insurance is a disgusting price, I remember when I first passed and tried to get insured on a 1.4 Peugeot 206, they were quoting in the region of £2000-£3000 and I think that was for third party..

Now im insured on a VW Golf Mark IV TDI, but im not the only one who drives it, it is around the £900 mark, which is okay supposing we've had one write off and a "50/50" accident..

Hopefully touch wood, my renewal in june will be cheaper, taking into context your car and the BHP and your driving history, £1000 isnt too bad.. 2k was disgusting..

Yeah this is definately bend over britain, we always get shafted :(
