Guys

Apologies if this has been asked before - I searched but couldn't find a clear reply. Just what Thule foot adapter should I buy for my new B8 Avant? Every website I tried gave me conflicting advice.

I will try to contact Thule this week and will post if no-one has the answer.

Cheers

Sorry should have said foot pack. Per Thule UK if you have the rails with no gap you will need the Fixpoint XT Low 753 and fitting kit 4007. I hope they are right says he heading off to EBay!

I too am looking for a Thule roofbar kit for by B8 A4 Avant and found this thread from last year. I have also recieved some differing advice and so was wondering whether ru55 got the 753 footpack and 4007 fitting kit in the end and, if so, whether they working okay for you?
I just can't help thinking that Thule's 'intracker' system would be a better option given they are deisgned to anchor into the holes in the rails, as per the A3 Sportback, but I can't find anything to support that theory.
Anyway, I'd certainly welcome some feedback before parting with several hundred quid!!

Just ordered a new set of Atera roofbars from roofbox.co.uk. Cost £115 (how much is a foot pack from Thule??) but are the same as Audi charge £200 for and you don't have to "faff about" building your own from the Thule options list as they are purpose made for individual vehicles.

Will post some pics when they arrive.

Keep your eyes on ebay.

I bought some about a month ago. The advert suggested they were like new.

When I collected them they were all packaged like new and were perfect.

The guy said he'd used them once and decided a towbar mount for his bikes suited him better.

They cost me £95 :D

Thanks for the heads-up.
I've found a new set on with the aero-bars on t'internet for £129, but will certainly check ebay for an even better deal.
Does the 753/4007 combination actually work okay, though?

Well I'm half way there - bought the 753 footpack off Ebay in November and been looking for the 4007 fitting kit for a while but may have to buy it from a dealer who will also swap locks to match the rest of my Thule stuff - unless anyone is selling! With summer nearly here in Scotland it will soon be time to get my bike out....

Approximately how tall are the black feet, and how many cm is the bar above the centerline of the car (at the shortest clearance distance)?

Does it make much noise at highway speeds?

Hi,
I used this company when I bought thule aero bars for the wife's Zafira. They were very helpful in ensuring I was getting the right kit (as there was differences with the roof rails).

I intend buying a foot pack when (and if) I change to an A4 avant in september and had checked it out.

It seems that most thule applications need a foot pack and adaptor kit (rubber insert with profile of roof rail).

Hope it helps.

The clear answer is 753/4007

The 753 part is the actual foot, and 4007 is the locking cover

The fitting is not as neat as that for the "stand off" roof bars - you need to tighten two allen bolts on each foot - but works.
