2001 cabrio 2.0 dtc codes

hi ive had the golf pluged two codes came up p0501 speed sensor & p0404 generic evap these codes were cleared by mechanic a week ago . engine light on again 100 miles later any help would be god send thanks luke

Hi Are you sure you have the right code 0404? is it not 0440 which is, Tank breathing system faulty.The 0501 is Vehicle speed signal implausible signal

kenny thanks for your reply, i will go and see mechanic and ask him to read codes again for me,it would be nice to see this emi light out anyway,if only for a few miles,,,,,luke

had it plugged in yes.... codes are the same as last time.....blue and white wire diconected from radio......speedo is working fine...trip computer no reading correctly....this car is a 4speed auto
