:aargh4: In a moving line of traffic recently on a dual carriageway, another car flicked up what I thought was a lump of mud left by a tractor. When I got home, I had a look and the damage was a decent dent and stone chip at the front of the bonnet.

The dent was about 5-10mm dia. I was relectant to go through my insurance for this, so I wandered into my local Audi dealer. They quoted £600 + VAT + parts. The guy there suggested Dent Devils. So i've taken his advice and the dent has been removed - TOTALLY :biglaugh: for £75. The only problem is that the dent was on the front of the bonnet where it's double skinned and that involved drilling through and plugging the hole with a rubber grommet. But now I'm left with an ugly stone chip. I've got touch up paint, but to be honest I've never done a decent job with it. I'll have a go at repairing it myself, but I'm not confident as I've not got a polishing mop or cutting compound.

Anyone got any suggestions, or is it a case of Chips Away or similar? Any help is really appreciated.

Cheers
Steve
