I've been told by my Audi dealer that I need to spend £700+ to have a new sensor fitted in the top rail of the windscreen, so that I can use my cabrio hood which has stuck in the closed position. I can't find any mention of this issue in the forum, but I know of one other such case on a '54' plate model like my own. It actually happned once before (stuck open this time) and another Audi retailer reset it under warranty. Now, of course, the warranty has expired. Does anyone know of a cheaper repair option?

Hi - just from reading else-where people have found that if they manually open/close the roof it seems to reset the computer and starts working again - might be worth a try as I would think it unlikely that a sensor would break as it has no moving parts etc.
good luck

Thanks, Ken, I'll try it but won't hold out too much hope.
I couldn't open it manually when I tried, the day before I took to the Audi dealer, but I'll certianly give it another go!
Thanks again
Tony

No offence but have you dont it correct? You need to use a special handle and insert it into the ski shoot
