Just to post up a fault I have cleared this morning, I had very little power and it felt like the turbo had died over the last few days and I had no idea why. Following some searching last night on the forum I went to the local German Swedish French moror factors and today bought a new Airflow meter, got the Bosch one instead of a £25 cheapo one.
Just fitted it and sorted. :biglaugh: Car is now averaging 49-51Mpg and the power is back. Its a 1998 A4 Avant 1.9Tdi. Just though I would post up the results to help anyone else who may have this prob in the future.
Tris.

I'm experiencing that same problem with mine at the moment. I thought it was something to do with that, but this is good to read... thanks.

Ideal glad this post was of use to someone. I checked through old invoices and the last time it was changed was about 2 1/2 years ago so I expect it was due to be replaced soon anyway. Least now I know its been done and I should have more trouble free motoring again for some time.

Do you mind if I ask... how much was the part? I've spoken to Audi and they want about 67 quid. I'm thinking I can probably source it cheaper elsewhere, but have every intention of getting a Bosch one.
Cheers,
Matt.

Hello new to all this forum stuff so hope this works:1zhelp: I have a 98 A4 Tdi Avant that has just lost all turbo power but there are no fault codes showing on ecu when plugged in  did yours have any? as if it is just the air flow metre that would be great :D

I've got no lights on dash. When I took the car to a non Audi garage, the reader just said that the turbo was running at below normal pressure. Audi wan't 125 pound to plug it in and tell me so I wont be going legit on that.
I've already replaced the air mass meter and it hasn't fixed the problem, although it does seem to have restored some accelleration and occasionally it goes quite well, which is just weird.
Sorry, can't be much help. Still trying to figure out the issue myself.
