Hi, i've been on here afew time and you lot seem to know your stuff so...
I have a v reg 1999 a3 1.8t quattro 180 bhp the main question is how much performance gain could i get out of the engine for say around 500 pounds i have other money aside to sort out the cam belt i'll be doing that at the same time, maybe the waterpump aswell seems to be the best thing to do but id just love a bit more go!
so how much power can you chip/ ecu out of a well serviced 1.8t quattro engine?, i read somewhere that you can only chip post 2000 a3's othrwise you have to do somthing witht the ecu is this true
if you have 500 to spend on a well loked after stock a3 1.8t quattro what would you do to get more go oh and who would you get to do the work?

many thanks for taking the time to read my post

Hello Mate,

Remaps can make a huge difference to these engines, to power, torque and driveability, and without too much worry....the engine components are sturdy and can take extra power. Obviously, extra pressure will be exerted on the drivetrain too if you drive with a heavy right foot, which could lead to faster wear, but nothing too bad!
There are loads of tuners/remappers around for these engines, try revotechnik.com,
For yours they state
power up to 207bhp
torque up to 232nm from 173nm
All for 399! :D
They do a 5 hour free trial too....I had it, and LOVED it!:biglaugh:
Hope this helps mate:beerchug:
