Managed to arrange via my lease company a demo from the Audi fleet pool for this weekend, the car I have is a B8 143 TDI Avant in silver with front/ rear park sensors, B&O stereo, Bluetooth prep low, and the rest is standard.

So comparing it to my current B7 Avant then good points IMO are:

1) Build quality no rattles etc.

2) MMI, once you get used to it :Blush2:

3) Fuel enconomy

4) B&O stereo, much better than my current Bose

5) Daytime running lights, after I found how to turn them on....

6) SD card useage

7) BT handsfree and phone control, no issue using Windows Mobile device running WM 6.1

Bad bits are as follows:

1) Foot rest for clutch foot is too far down the foot well and I stuggle to reach it, even though I am 6 ft tall!

2) Gear shift seems to be placed a little high, so I feel I am having to reach up for it.

3) Is it me or is there no light in the glovebox?

4) The real cheap and nasty foor panel that covers the spare wheel.

5) The seat material seems very hard, may have to consider the alcantara option.

6) With the Air Con running the trim around the gear shift gets really cold and I see slight condensation on the front ashtray, all very strange!

I would be interested to hear from you guys who have B8s and if you have similar thoughts or comments.

Cheers

Richard

Pretty much the spec mine will be on Wednesday - apart fom the colour!! Can't wait now.

As for the glovebox light - I think you only get that as part of the interior light pack - shocking really

Saw mine ay Wayside MK yesterday; Quartz grey Avant S-line 2.0Tdi 143 with full leather, B&O, F&R sensors, dark woody trim, and it all looked the dogs ********, sorry :Blush2: I meant to say muts nuts!! :D

It looks as if you can get about 4 cigarette papaers between the road and underside, so I don't think I'll be giving the mother-in-law a lift!!!!;)

I pick mine up on Tuesday after the mad rush on the Monday 1st!!!

I had a 2.0TDi SE Avant for the weekend, its standard apart from fitted Cruse.

My overall impression is one of quality, attention to detial and in general a very nice car. But! is it me or is the foot well cramped? does anyone else find this a problem?

Don't have the Avant but the saloon which as far as the cockpit is concerned is identical. Yes, IMPO, the A4 has suffered from the RHD conversion because of the offset transmission bulge(just look at how much more space is on the LHS) and the offset pedals are not to the taste of all.

BUT, I can still rest my foot to the left and got used to the arrangement very quickly so that I don't actually notice it now. Used to have an S40 and that really was tight, couldn't fit my shoe between the clutch and the tunnel!
