Hi All, great site btw. This is my my 1st post..Hope u can help/offer some advice..I have a bit of a dilemma....Some thieving MOFOs :zx11: few weeks ago stole my beloved 2003 S4 off the drive...it was amazingly recovered by the police a few days ago. Upon collecting the car, all looked in good knick to my amazement...but alas.. the clutch has completely gone (its really hard to press the clutch down and u dont get any drive whatsoever in 1st/2nd gear).. Would that involve replacing the clutch altogether? if so does anyone have a rough idea how much it would cost from an independent garage/Audi Garage? My other question is how much could I expect to lose on the S4 now its been stolen/recovered if I put it for sale and carried out the repairs on the clutch? (the Insurance company quoted a settlement figure of £14200 prior to it being recovered). Would that be the value now still?..details of the car are below...

Year: 2003
Model: Audi S4 V8 4.2
Miles: 48900, Specs: Red, BOSE, Parking sensors, FASH,New Tyres, black silk recaros...

Would really appreciate any advice on the above..:1zhelp:

I believe some insurance companies offer a depreciation coverage, because in your case, I would expect about 10% less due to the stolen recovered.

Clutch, I only have experience of a Golf Mk4 GTI, that was £330 indie, £600 from VW. Have you checked to see if the gearbox has gone ?

For a new clutch and flywheel you will be looking at around the £800.00 mark I would say..

To be honest, i would not want the car back following it been stolen, as you say you will lose a fair amount with it been a CAT D,

The fact it was recovered and the insurance have not had to write it off it will not be registered as a CAT D.

And if you have made no claims on it with the insurance it may not even have anything on it's record.

Try and find a specialist in your area as this will keep cost down but I would say they fried the clutch and flywheel canning it every where.

Thanks to all for the feedback - much appreciated....In the end I went thru an independent garage. I got the clutch/flywheel (£850)/2 new tyres/oil filter/MOT all in for £1750 including Labour/VAT. The car isnt CAT D and I'll be keeping it (feels like new car with new clutch and tyres!). Biggest gripe was with the Audi Garage (utter crooks)...basically took car in to get key remapped.. the Radio/CD hadnt been working at all for the last 2 weeks. (simply wouldnt come on) after it had been recovered, so I took it to Audi Dealership to get it checked...they told me they couldnt do anything and that they managed to get it back to SAFE Mode, but it would require a new radio (£312!!)...so I was all set to pay this, but looked on the internet beforehand to understand what SAFE Mode was...I couldnt believe there was a simple workaround, which simply involves entering the existing Radio Code..so I tried this and it works now!!...I'm fuming about this as Audi simply tried to properly skank me :zx11:(and I thought they were a more reputable garage)...can I report them?..aint going back there again!!
