Hi,

I've got a MK4 Golf Gti T KO3 (engine code AGU).

It's currently 195bhp (remapped)...however, I've got the bug now, and I want more!!! lol. Ideally, I'd like sorta 230bhp+,

So...I've set my self aside a £1200 max budget, and I was wondering if you guys could make any suggestions at to what to do with my cash???

I've sent a few emails out to tuning companies already.

JBSautodesigns said they'd recommend:

- Forge FMIC
- Miltek Complete Exhaust
- Forge Turbo Intake Pipe
- Custom Code Phase 2 Re-map.

This all totaled £2317. However, as I'd still be running the KO3...they said I could only expect about 220bhp. Over £2000 for 25bhp aint really value-for-money in my book...so I doubt i'll be taking them up on this.

Backdraft motor sport recommended:

- KO4-1 Turbo
- Oil, filter and coolant
- Bolts and gaskets

This all totaled £1350. They said I could expect an instant 20-30bhp, plus maybe more dependent on my map. So i'd assume in this case I'd need another map. Now although this option is much cheaper, it doesn't include an intercooler, and so i'm a bit worried incase I go for this option but then can't get anymore from it without lowering air temp. But then I guess this is why it's a cheaper option, coz FMICs cost a fair amount.

Anyway, that's all the feeback I've had so far outta the 10 odd companies I've emailed. I just thought it might be an idea to get some input from you guys as I'm sure many of you have already been down this path and so would know where i'm best putting my cash.

Any help is VERY much appreciated.

Thanks again

I would go the bigger turbo route because it seems 220bhp is the max with K03 turbos. At least if you have a K04 fitted then your on the road to 300bhp in the future if you require it...

Hi,

Thanks for your comments.

I'm decided on going for the KO4. There's a guy local to me who can uprate my KO3 into a KO4, and fitted it would cost £700 which I think is a fairly good deal. Most places have quoted me that for supply of the KO4 alone, without labour.

Now, I was going to go KO4 alone. However, Chipped UK have quoted me £380 for a custom remap, but pointed out that if I decided to go FMIC at a later date, then I'd have to pay the £380 again for another custom remap.

So, in short...I've decided i'll probably go the FMIC route aswell, just to save me money in the long run.

So...

Question 1: Does anyone know of anywhere that does a custom remap for less than this? Very happy with the service Chipped UK provide, however if there was somewhere that could save me pennies i'd definately consider it

Question 2: With custom remap, what performance do you guys think i'll see on a KO4 with FMIC?

Question 3: Could you please also make some recommendations as to good FMICs??? I've seen some on ebay for like £200, but I know cheap kits can be harder to fit in some cases, and so I wondered if you guys know of any good ones??

Seen one on Forge for £800 odd but that's WELL out my price range!

Thanks again for all your help
