I hope the moderators understand I am not trying to sell anything here just getting an indication of interest.
An idiot on a provisional license under the influence of drugs slammed into the back of my partners 2002 A4 Cabriolet a couple of weeks ago and sadly it is a write off.
Bought the car from a main dealer for her Birthday 18 months ago and she didn't like the wood trim. I asked the dealer why I never see a model around that year with silver / aluminium effect trim and was told it wasn't made available until much later (circa 2005/6?).
Anyway I ended up ordering and having fitted a full set of aluminium look trim pieces (doors, rear panel, front / rear ashtrays, dashboard etc) and paid £975 in all including fitting. The cost of the parts alone was over £500.
Now it may be that I can negotiate with the insurance company to retrieve the trim parts before the car is taken away for scrap. It's quite a bit of work to do it though and I wouldn't bother if no one was interested on buying the parts off me.
Anyone?

i could be interested depending on price.
i have the walnut trim in mine and have kinda got used to it, but i do also like the aluminium trim. does it have the quattro emblem on the main dash insert? if it has, then its not for me.
also, is it the plain/brushed style or the fishscale trim?
ta :)
shame to hear your misfortune! that sucks.
are you adverse to stripping some other bits before it goes to the scrappy? (just out of interest :) )

I understand price is an issue of course but I don't want to negotiate price in this post. I just need sufficient interest to bother driving over to where the car is and spending a couple of hours taking all the bits off.
No it doesn't have the Quattro emblem, the car is a 3ltr Sport but not 4WD.
Its the plain / brushed style. I say both because the brushing is very understated and it looks quite plain from many angles / distances. Hope that isn't too vague! It looks excellent I know that!! Really transformed the interior.
Unfortunately I won't get any other bits off the car we are not buying it back as scrap. I am trying to negotiate a decent settlement with the insurance company and there is the inevitable gap in what they will offer compared to what I believe it is worth. So I suggested to them I might accept their offer if I could remove the Smartnav sat nav system and the silver trim from the car before they take it away.

I understand on the price negotiation front, i didnt want to talk figures either :)
as much as im probably shooting myself in the foot, you would almost certainly benefit from removing the alu bits, even to just stick them on ebay.

Yes I had considered ebay but a) I haven't had great experiences selling things on ebay, buying has been fine but not selling and b) that wouldn't necessarily benefit someone from this forum. It is such a striking change and cost so much money to have done I kind of wanted to sell the bits to someone who would really appreciate it in the hope it would make me fell better about the huge amount of my money which just got flushed down the toilet!!

Trust me someone will be willing to pay quite a bit for the trim on eBay especially if it's the full set.
I just sold a 2nd hand leather handbrake grip for £20 on there- a new one can't be much more than that. :D

Well one way or another looks like it is worth the effort then. First hurdle is the insurance company. I have to get them to accept the deal now!

Apologies all. To my surprise this morning (after I provided lots of documentary evidence yesterday) the insurance company has offered an excellent settlement on the car so I wont be taking anything off it after all.
I will however try and trace where the car ends up as it will definitely be broken up for parts. If I can get an address I will let the forum know and maybe someone can go raid it for the good bits ;)

Sadly not. It's a long story................
Compressed version. Split up with partner, only really got involved again to help her sort out the insurance stuff after the accident. She was going to sell the car anyway as she needed some cash. Now looking at buying a cheaper convertible which I have to go out and help choose.
In the frame are:
Toyota MR2 - not too bad
Mazda MX5 - Nope!
MGF - absolutely no way I would get involved in buying one of these!!
Peugeot 206cc - not too bad
Going to be a big change from the A4 Cab but needs must when the devil drives.
I still have my A6 2.7T so won't be leaving this forum in a hurry :D

Forgot to run the details past you all.
Settlement was £13k for a 2002 A4 Cab on an 02 plate, 3ltr Sport, silver with blue hood and leather, 43k miles, full Audi history, no optional extras other than the aluminium trim I had fitted.
I think that's pretty good particularly in the current economic climate. Not sure she would have made that much selling it privately.
I have photographs of the state of it after the accident but they are 3mb bitmap images so I probably shouldn't try to post them here :o

Very good settlement as I just picked up an 04 version, with some extras and less miles for only slightly more.
With black trim :D
if you are after another one and are down south I can recommend a little indie place that sourced mine, and it was mint.
