Hi,

Can anyone tell me how to go about replacing a front door hinge (near side).
The door got caught in the wind & was flown open, making the door drop considerably.
To be honest the door has never been 100% right even before this (I've read it's a common problem with 3 door Golf's)

I tried to adjust the hinge, but can't get the damn thing off as the bolts seem worn. (All I managed to do was wedge some tin behind the hinge to lift it slightly, allowing me to close the door, just.)
Unless I can get the door off it puts paid to me fitting a new one. IF I somehow manage to get it off, is it a relatively easy job replacing a hinge ?

Any ideas ? ..if I take it to a main dealer I dread to think how much they'd charge to fint a new hinge...

Should be pretty straight forward mate, use some wood with a bit of carpet on top to support the weight of the door, get someone to hold her steady whilst you remove the hinges. Ideally have the new ones ready so you can bolt them straight back on.
If you've knackered the securing bolts could you cut the hinges then use some kind of extractor tool?
